Keeping warm with winter season volunteer activities2019-01-21
Samsung Electro-Mechanics conducted winter season volunteer activities from the 5th to 21st of last month. Let’s find out about the heart-warming work our volunteers did for the members of our community despite the frigid weather.
Since 2004, employees from Samsung Electro-Mechanics and its affiliates have consistently paid a visit to rundown neighbourhoods in the Namdaemun area of Seoul to spread the love. This time around, 30 or so employees delivered rice and side dishes to approximately 640 recipients to help make their winter season a bit more comfortable.
In addition, 30 or so employees and family member volunteers participated in the “Sharing the Heat of Love” activity by delivering 1,500 home heating briquettes to low-income senior citizens in the area who live alone.
On top of that, the “Hanultari” volunteer group from the Sejong Plant even made hot snacks for the children at the local children’s center!
Since 2006, volunteers from the Busan Plant have joined hands with the Busan Red Cross to provide meals for the homeless for the past 12 years. This year, as the winter reaches its deepest point, the volunteer group gave out warming red-bean soup to roughly 400 homeless people and senior citizens in the local area.
On top of its rural volunteer activities in the summer season, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is involved in a wide range of other social contribution projects such as sisterhood agreements with multiple villages, free artificial joint surgeries, sponsorship of badminton tournaments for the disabled, sponsorship of the Hello! SEM orchestra, and much more.
