Features of Products (Technology)

Wireless charging technology is made up of the magnetic induction method and magnetic resonance method, and we provide various types of products according to the environment demanded by users.

Inductive Type

Magnetic induction method, is using the the electromagnetic induction phenomena of the primary and secondary coils to send and receive power. WPC and PMA are the standards of this method.

Resonant Type

In case of the magnetic resonance method, the resonance phenomena between the transmitting and receiving coils that have the same resonance frequency is applied to transmit and receive power. In June 2015, A4WP and PMA were merged and integrated into AirFuel Alliance. The organization makes efforts to realize the interoperation of magnetic resonance and magnetic induction. We, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, acquired the Rezence certificate in January 2014 for the first time in the world.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has joined two wireless charging standardization organizations (WPC and AirFuel Alliance) and actively participated in establishing standards. In particular, the company has led technology development as a member of the board of directors of WPC and AirFuel Alliance.

Certificate

Safety/Environment Certification

All the products not only meet the safety and environment regulations that are required in individual countries, but also comply thoroughly with in-house environment and safety policies throughout the whole production process. The following shows the representative certification criteria applied to power supply units.

UL(Underwriters Laboratory)

The UL mark signifies the safety standards that are required in America and Canada.
This scheme is operated for securing the safety of consumer products and protecting consumers.

CCC(China Compulsory Certificate)

CCC is a quality and safety certification scheme that started its operation on August 2003.
Effective as of August 1, 2003, the CPCS system makes it compulsory to acquire the CCC mark for all types of products that are to be exported to China and fall into the range of the CPCS system.(ul.com)

CE(Conformite Europeenne)

CE is a compulsory product safety mark for products that are to be distributed within EU.
The CE mark is used to unify the safety standards of individual countries and allow safety-guaranteed products to be distributed smoothly.

CB(Certificate Body)

The CB scheme is the world’s first system of its kind that recognizes test and certification reports mutually with regard to electric and electronic products.
In the CB scheme, the IEC standards can be applied to 16 different electric and electronic product groups that are used for offices and households (ul.com).

KC(Korea Certification)

Thirteen previous legally compulsory certification marks are integrated into KC, helping make the certification procedures become more efficient and improve reliability for the sake of “product safety.” Refer to www.standard.go.kr for more information.

80PLUS

80PLUS is a certification standard for the energy efficiency of computer power supply units (PSUs). Samsung acquired certificates for each grade of PSU that shows 80% efficiency.

BSMI(Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection)

This is a product auditing method that is managed by the BSMI department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan. It regulates most of the electric and electronic products that are to be exported to Taiwan.
The products are regulated according to the safety and EMC requirements, and thus, qualified products will be entitled to the use of the BSMI mark.
