Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines Corp. (SEMPHIL) announced on November 26 that it was inducted into the Hall of Fame by receiving the Outstanding Environmental Performers Award from the Philippine government three times.

(*2008, 2019, 2020).

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) annually selects and awards outstanding companies in four categories: export, community projects, employee relations, and environmental management. Among them, the Outstanding Environmental Performers Award is given to a company that contributed to environmental improvements such as environmental performance and air pollution prevention.

With this award in the environmental management sector, SEMPHIL was honored to be named to the Hall of Fame by becoming a three-time winner in each of the four categories (Outstanding Exporter, Outstanding Employer, Outstanding Community Project, Outstanding Environmental Performer). The achievement recognizes SEMPHIL as an exemplary company that takes the lead in improving social values in the Philippines.

SEMPHIL has obtained certification for an environmental management system (ISO14001) from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). An environmental management system is an international standard that sets out specific goals with a systematic approach for companies to practice environmental management as a management policy. Among the evaluation items, SEMPHIL received high scores for energy saving, reducing chemical use, and complying with standards for water quality and air pollution prevention.

In addition, SEMPHIL was also recognized for its contribution to community growth and environmental improvement with continued corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, such as tree planting in an effort to create an eco-friendly environment and conserve natural resources, and coastal clean-up.

Hong Jeongoh, Vice President of SEMPHIL, said, “This is a meaningful award that recognizes our continued efforts to expand environmental management and pursue shared growth with the local community in the Philippines. We will continue to do our best to improve our ESG performance.”

SEMPHIL was established as an overseas production corporation in 1997 and began mass production in 2000. Currently, it produces passive devices such as Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCCs), inductors, and chip resistors.
