Samsung Electro-Mechanics was named to the ‘Platinum Club,’ the highest tier in the climate change category, at the ‘CDP Korea Awards’ hosted by the CDP Korea Committee. With this achievement, the company has set a record of being selected a total of eight times, the most of any domestic company.

The CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) is a global non-profit organization that annually provides investors and financial institutions with information regarding the climate change response strategies, greenhouse gas emissions, and reduction efforts of major listed companies worldwide. Along with the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) and the FTSE4Good Index, CDP evaluation results are recognized as one of the most reliable indicators of sustainability management.

The Platinum Club is the highest tier, granted only to companies that have maintained their Hall of Fame status for four or more years. The Hall of Fame is reserved exclusively for the top five companies that have received the highest rating in the CDP evaluation for five consecutive years. In this year’s evaluation, five companies, including Samsung Electro-Mechanics, were inducted into the Platinum Club.

This year’s CDP climate change category evaluated 22,100 global companies across 16 metrics, including energy usage, calculation and verification of greenhouse gas emissions, and greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics earned the highest rating by receiving top scores across all evaluation metrics, notably for: ▲ the phased implementation of its 2050 carbon neutrality plan and the regular operation of consultative bodies, ▲ regular reporting of climate change issues to the ESG Committee within the Board of Directors, and ▲ the calculation and verification of greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 3) generated throughout all stages of product processing, transportation, and disposal.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics also received an Excellence Award in the water security category. This category evaluated 14 metrics, including the analysis of opportunities and risk factors, as well as water pollution management systems. Notably, based on 2024 data, the company was recognized for reusing approximately 11 million tons of water—equivalent to the monthly water supply of Suwon City—through the expansion of water reduction and reuse facilities at both domestic and overseas sites.

Chang Duckhyun, President and CEO, stated, “We are doing our utmost to ensure sustainable management by responding to climate change and minimizing our environmental impact.” He added, “We will become a trusted company by fully internalizing sustainable management practices.”

To realize its ESG mission, ‘Sustainable Challenges for a Better Planet & Life,’ Samsung Electro-Mechanics is driving its ESG management forward by focusing on four key goals: ▲ creating a sustainable global environment, ▲ making a positive social impact, ▲ contributing to local communities, and ▲ ensuring transparent decision-making and communication.

Furthermore, Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ ESG performance continues to be recognized by various sustainability evaluation agencies beyond the CDP. The company has cemented its reputation as a leading ESG enterprise, becoming the first domestic company to be included in the DJSI for 16 consecutive years and the FTSE4Good Index for 15 consecutive years, while also achieving ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ certification across all of its domestic and overseas sites.
