Samsung Electro-Mechanics hosted the ‘2025 SAT (Samsung Automotive-Component Tech-Day)’ in Tianjin, China, from September 25 to 26. SAT serves as a platform for Samsung Electro-Mechanics to engage global automotive electronics clients, share the latest technologies and market trends, and strengthen collaborative ties. This year’s event attracted more than 100 attendees from over 30 global automakers and automotive electronics companies.

At the event, Samsung Electro-Mechanics emphasized that high-performance, high-reliability MLCCs (Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors) are becoming essential components in the evolving automotive electronics sector, which is rapidly advancing through the convergence of AI and robotics. As a leader in developing high-value-added MLCC products such as ultra-high-capacitance and ultra-high-voltage solutions, Samsung Electro-Mechanics committed to ensuring a stable supply through rigorous quality management and the expansion of smart-factory-based production capacity.

During the event, the company proposed long-term partnerships by presenting MLCC market trends and technology roadmaps across the IT, industrial, and automotive sectors. It also introduced next-generation automotive solutions such as high-capacitance and high-reliability products and shared customer-tailored R&D strategies. Particular focus was given to the development direction and solutions for MLCCs that meet emerging trends such as the advancement of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and high-speed EV charging.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics also opened the doors to its Tianjin plant, a key manufacturing base for automotive electronics, showcasing its advanced production lines. The demonstration highlighted the company’s ability to manufacture automotive MLCCs that can reliably operate under high-temperature and high-voltage conditions—underscoring its technological capabilities and quality competitiveness.

Last year, Samsung Electro-Mechanics achieved KRW 1 trillion in automotive MLCC sales, confirming the success of its expansion in the automotive business. This year, the company aims to expand its portfolio beyond MLCCs to include critical automotive components such as camera modules and semiconductor package substrates.

Tae Gon LEE, Executive Vice President and Head of the Strategic Marketing Center at Samsung Electro-Mechanics, remarked, “We are witnessing the concentrated application of advanced technologies and the rapid pace of innovation in the automotive sector. We aim to become the ideal partner in driving innovation alongside our customers through differentiated products and solutions.”

To further strengthen its automotive business, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is expanding its engagement with global clients through a variety of initiatives beyond SAT, including customer invitation programs (such as SCC and SEMCO Component College) and webinars.

Meanwhile, as autonomous driving becomes more advanced and the electric vehicle market expands, the demand for high-capacitance and high-reliability MLCCs is expected to grow steadily. According to market research firm Reports Insights, the global automotive MLCC market is projected to nearly triple, from KRW 6.7 trillion in 2025 to KRW 16 trillion by 2033.

Building on its expertise in ultra-small and ultra-high-capacitance MLCC technology, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is enhancing its automotive product lineup with components that deliver high temperature tolerance, high voltage endurance, and exceptional reliability. The company is also expanding its supply channels to global Tier 1 automotive parts suppliers and OEMs.
