June in Samsung Electro-Mechanics History

Established in 1973, Samsung Electro-Mechanics provided the foundation for technological independence of Korea’s components industry and grew into a company that develops and manufactures core electronics parts around the world. With approx. 48 years of history, from 1973 to today, let us revisit June within the context of Samsung Electro-Mechanics history.
 
1984ㅣ Chairman Lee Byeongcheol hosts Management Board of Directors Meeting
In order to successfully achieve the 5-year business plan, Samsung’s Chairman Lee Byeongcheol personally hosted the Management Board of Directors Meeting on June 14. The 5-year business plan was established in November 1983 and has been carried out since early 1984, and over 5 years, it achieved its objective of reaching revenue KRW 300 billion, which is 10 times its previous revenue” within 5 years.

 


At the time, Chairman Lee emphasized the limitless potential of electronics parts and requested the Board to focus on developing and improving efficient organizational management and technology as well as constructing a systematic management system.

1993ㅣLINE-STOP Policy Implementation for Quality Innovation
In 1993, around the time of launch of Samsung’s New Management, we carried out a comprehensive business strategy by division focusing on eliminating defects while dramatically reducing work-in-process stocks and inventory.
In particular, Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ LINE-STOP policy was an innovative measure for quality improvement that aimed to prevent defective quality, and when an anomaly occurred in the production line, the worker would summon the supervisor to find out the cause and take measures accordingly, or when necessary, halt the production line operation and remove the fundamental cause.

1995ㅣVISION 21 Announcement Ceremony

 

 

In 1995, Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced its 21st Century vision which aimed to become, “World Top 3”. On this day of the announcement ceremony, executives and employees read a resolution statement together and made a time capsule that included each employee’s wishes for the company to be opened on the establishment date of November 1 in the year 2000.

2004ㅣ Tianjin Branch Receives Presidential Award on Environment Day
In recognition of raising the nation’s reputation through proactive collaboration on the domestic as well as the Chinese government’s environmental policies, the Tianjin Branch received the Presidential Award on June 5 Environment Day. The Tianjin Branch constructed an environmentally friendly business management system and carried out a leading role in global environmental management, implementing an environmentally-friendly system and acquiring buyer green partner certification.

2006ㅣ Publication of the First Sustainability Report



In 2006, for the first time as a domestic parts manufacturer, Samsung Electro-Mechanics published its first “Sustainability Report”. Under the title, “Citizenship Report”, it included its hopes to grow harmoniously with interest parties within society and shared over 100 among a total of 141 GRI guidelines.

2010ㅣSamsung Electro-Mechanics Selected For the Top 100 Companies by Business Week
Samsung Electro-Mechanics was ranked 16th among “Global Top 100 IT Companies with High Growth Potentials” by the US Business Week Magazine. In particular, Samsung Electro-Mechanics was the only Korean company to be selected by Business Week. Samsung Electro-Mechanics grew from 86th in 2009 in recognition for its high growth potentials in leading the IT industry.
